CVE-2026-72718Public exploit

Command execution via inherited Git fsmonitor configuration

Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

Code injection in Agentic AI Foundation Goose before 1.44.0 allows local users to execute commands through a malicious repository. The review handler's git_command function passes attacker-controlled core.fsmonitor configuration to Git while collecting diffs, causing an index refresh to invoke the configured command. Exploitation requires a user to run goose review in the repository; the command then runs unsandboxed with that user's environment and file privileges.
