CVE-2026-72717Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Import-time code execution via schema default

Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 19, 2026

Code injection in zod schema generation in Orval before 8.21.0 allows attackers to execute JavaScript at import via crafted schema defaults. The packages/zod/src/index.ts formatDefaultValue path emits a spec-supplied default into a module-level template literal without escaping ${ sequences or backtick characters, so the generated module treats the value as live code instead of data. Exposure requires attacker control or influence over an OpenAPI or Swagger specification consumed by Orval and code that imports the generated zod schema in a developer, CI, test, or application environment.
