Authenticated indexing disruption via crafted document processing
Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
Inefficient algorithmic complexity in Elasticsearch allows remote authenticated users to disrupt indexing with a crafted document. Document processing performs disproportionate work on crafted user input, occupying one thread in a bounded worker pool for an extended period. Any low-privileged account able to index documents can degrade indexing availability on the affected node; one small document is sufficient in all configurations.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=8.0.0 <=8.19.19
