Model space assignment modification via incomplete privilege check
Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
Missing authorization in Kibana 8.0.0 through 8.19.19 and 9.0.0 through 9.4.4 allows remote authenticated users to alter model space assignments. The remove-from-current-space capability accepts trained-model saved objects but checks only anomaly-detection and data-frame-analytics creation privileges. Exploitation requires Machine Learning to be enabled and a custom role with that unusual privilege combination; it removes the model only from one space and does not delete the model.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=8.0.0 <=8.19.19
- Affected versionversion=9.0.0 <=9.4.4

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
