Authenticated service hang via malformed maintenance-window payload
Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
Resource exhaustion in Elastic Kibana allows remote authenticated users to hang the service via a malformed maintenance-window payload. The maintenance-window handler accepts a specially crafted malformed payload and allocates resources without an enforced limit, leaving the Kibana process unresponsive. Exploitation requires permission to manage maintenance windows; every configuration is affected, and recovery requires manual intervention.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=8.12.0 <=8.19.18
- Affected versionversion=9.0.0 <=9.3.7
