Unauthenticated command execution via cron newline injection
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
OS command injection in alseambusher crontab-ui through 0.4.2 allows remote attackers to execute commands through crafted env_vars input. The GET /crontab handler passes env_vars to set_crontab, which inserts it verbatim before writing and installing the generated crontab file. Installations without BASIC_AUTH_USER and BASIC_AUTH_PWD expose the route without authentication; injected entries execute as the cron account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
