Kernel memory corruption via premature request recycling
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel xprtrdma transport allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through concurrent RPC and DMA activity. The Reply handler drops rl_kref and recycles an rpcrdma_req while an HCA can still DMA-read its send buffer because Send-side references were conditional. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and an active RPC-over-RDMA path; resulting corruption can crash or destabilize the system.
