System instability via xfrm device reference imbalance
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel xfrm subsystem allows attackers to destabilize systems during asynchronous IPsec packet processing. xfrm_rcv_cb replaces skb->dev with a tunnel device without acquiring its reference, so resumption decrements the wrong device and leaks the original reference. The exposed path requires a receive callback that changes skb->dev before transport_finish, producing tunnel-device use-after-free or reference-count corruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
