System crash via failed DFA unpack handling
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux AppArmor 6.17 and later affected kernels allows local users to crash the system with malformed policy data. In unpack_pdb, a failed unpack_dfa operation can leave pdb->dfa NULL, but processing continues and dereferences that pointer. Reachability requires local access able to submit AppArmor policy data; the bounded consequence is a kernel crash and service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
