CVE-2026-72441

Kernel-memory disclosure via uninitialized pan identifier

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Information disclosure in the Linux kernel's IEEE 802.15.4 datagram path allows local users to read uninitialized kernel bytes. When an address uses IEEE802154_ADDR_NONE mode, ieee802154_hdr_get_addr() sets only mode, so dgram_recvmsg() returns an uncleared pan_id to user space. Reaching the leak requires local access to receive such a datagram, and disclosure is limited to the uninitialized pan_id bytes.
