CVE-2026-72411

Kernel code execution via DSA port use-after-free

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel 7.1 through 7.1.4 allows local users to crash the kernel or corrupt kernel memory during driver teardown. The mxl862xx_crc_err_work_fn() handler walks freed DSA port objects and passes a dangling conduit pointer to dev_close() after mxl862xx_remove() unregisters the switch. Triggering requires a local race between an MDIO CRC-scheduled work item and mxl862xx driver removal; exploitation can panic the kernel or gain kernel-level code execution.
