CVE-2026-72374Network attack vector

Remote service interruption via premature callback completion

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Improper message parsing in the Linux kernel AFS callback service allows remote attackers to interrupt service via crafted traffic. Callback delivery handlers replace the -EAGAIN result from afs_extract_data() with success after queued data is consumed but before the last packet arrives. Reachability requires an enabled AFS client and its RxRPC callback listener; published impact is limited to availability.
