Incorrect lock state via mismatched deadlock error check
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
Incorrect lock handling in the Linux kernel regulator core allows local users to leave regulator pairs partially locked during contention. The regulator_lock_two function compares the -EDEADLK result from ww_mutex_lock against -EDEADLOCK, so MIPS skips the required unlock-and-retry path. CAP_SYS_ADMIN is required to bind a driver through sysfs and reach regulator_resolve_supply; the inconsistent lock state can destabilize the system.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
