Local denial of service via leaked VMA arrays
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
Resource leak in the Linux kernel drm/xe driver 7.1 allows local users to exhaust memory through failed PAT madvise ioctl requests. The L2 flush branch in xe_vm_madvise_ioctl() jumps to madv_fini after get_vmas() allocates madvise_range.vmas, bypassing free_vmas() and kfree(). The path requires local access to the drm/xe ioctl and an SVM or userptr range rejected by L2 validation; repeated requests exhaust kernel memory and interrupt services.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
