CVE-2026-72298

Kernel crash via wrapped QRTR packet length

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Integer overflow in the QRTR network component of Linux on 32-bit kernels allows local users to crash the kernel with a crafted packet. The qrtr_endpoint_post() size check aligns a wire-controlled 32-bit length before validating it, so values of 0xfffffffd or greater wrap to zero and let skb_put_data() write beyond the allocated socket buffer. Reachability requires a 32-bit kernel and a local QRTR injection path or an inbound frame from an on-chip modem or coprocessor; the documented result is a kernel oops and service interruption.
