CVE-2026-72295

Host kernel corruption via unchecked irqchip index

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

An out-of-bounds write in Linux LoongArch KVM irqfd routing allows local users to corrupt host kernel memory through /dev/kvm ioctls. The kvm_set_routing_entry function uses an attacker-controlled irqchip value to index rt->chip before checking its range, so a crafted KVM_SET_GSI_ROUTING request writes beyond the chip array. Access to /dev/kvm and a LoongArch KVM host are required; corruption can disclose or alter host memory, escalate privileges, or panic the host.
