Host hang via unpreloaded radix-tree insertion
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
Denial of service in Linux kernel 7.0 KVM s390 vsie allows local users to make the host unresponsive through a shadow fault. The _gaccess_shadow_fault() path attempts radix-tree insertion without preloading allocation resources before taking its lock, so allocation failure prevents forward progress. Low-privilege local access and an s390 host using the KVM vsie path are required; the supported consequence is a host hang.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
