CVE-2026-72226Network attack vector

Kernel memory corruption via wrapped TVLV length

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Integer overflow in Linux batman-adv allows remote attackers on an active mesh network to corrupt kernel memory via a crafted TT unicast TVLV. The translation-table handler multiplies an untrusted 16-bit VLAN count by the eight-byte batadv_tvlv_tt_vlan_data size and stores the result in 16 bits, wrapping tt_vlan_len and invalidating subsequent bounds checks. The batman-adv mesh interface must be active; a malicious mesh peer can then drive out-of-bounds translation-table processing that can crash the kernel or corrupt routing state.
