CVE-2026-72217Network attack vector

Remote memory corruption via unchecked SUNRPC bvec store

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in the Linux kernel allows remote attackers to corrupt adjacent slab memory through a crafted NFS write request. xdr_buf_to_bvec() stores a bio_vec into rq_bvec before checking the slot against rq_maxpages, so a fully used budget causes a one-element overrun. Exposure requires the in-kernel NFS server to process a client-controlled write payload; the resulting kernel-memory corruption can compromise integrity or interrupt the host.
