Kernel crash via malformed resident index root

Improper input validation in the Linux NTFS driver before 7.1.5 allows local users to crash the kernel via a crafted filesystem. The attribute lookup path returns resident $INDEX_ROOT data without checking header alignment, lower bounds, length consistency, or minimum entry space before callers walk its entries. Exploitation requires supplying an NTFS image and causing the kernel to process its resident index root; the bounded consequence is system instability or a crash.
