Local denial of service via NTFS lock inversion

Deadlock in the Linux kernel NTFS driver 7.1 through 7.1.4 allows local users to make the system unresponsive through rename operations. The ntfs_rename path locks the source inode and parent before the target inode or target parent, reversing the child-to-parent order used by fsync and inode writeback. Concurrent rename and fsync or writeback activity on an NTFS filesystem can therefore hang the affected system without exposing or modifying data.
