CVE-2026-72183

Out-of-domain process termination via SIGIO fan-out

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Landlock signal-scope bypass in the Linux kernel allows local users to kill processes outside their sandbox through asynchronous SIGIO. control_current_fowner() omits the registrant's Landlock domain for a process-group owner when pid_task() returns a same-thread-group member, so hook_file_send_sigiotask() permits unchecked group-wide delivery. A sandboxed process needs an owned file or socket and O_ASYNC access; a resulting I/O event can terminate a supervisor or security monitor in the shared process group.
