Local file disclosure via unchecked document paths
Published Apr 28, 2026 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Absolute path traversal in Deepractice PromptX 2.0 through 2.4.0 allows remote attackers to read local Office and PDF files. The read_docx, read_xlsx, read_pptx, list_xlsx_sheets, and read_pdf handlers pass an unvalidated path directly to fs.readFileSync or AdmZip without a workspace boundary check. Exploitation requires access to the built-in mcp-office server or control over an agent invocation, and exposes only existing supported documents readable by the PromptX process.
