CVE-2026-72127

Kernel PID disclosure via namespace-unaware NAPI reporting

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Information disclosure in the Linux kernel allows local users in a child PID namespace to read a NAPI thread's global PID. netdev_nl_napi_fill_one() passes task_pid_nr() into NETDEV_A_NAPI_PID, returning the initial-namespace PID instead of translating it through the caller's namespace. NETDEV_CMD_NAPI_GET lacks GENL_ADMIN_PERM, so access from a child PID namespace is sufficient to expose a kernel thread identifier that should appear as zero.
