Kernel memory corruption via zero-count fence deduplication
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
Memory corruption in the Linux kernel allows local users to dereference an uninitialized AMDGPU fence through a zero-count wait. dma_fence_dedup_array returns 1 for an empty array because it increments the zero index, so amdgpu_userq_wait functions dereference an uninitialized fence slot. The path requires local low-privileged access and a zero local fence count; the documented consequences are kernel memory corruption and a system crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
