CVE-2026-72091

Local kernel crash via zero command handle

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel 6.14 through 7.1.4 allows local users to crash the kernel via an AMD NPU command. amdxdna_drm_submit_execbuf accepts a zero command-buffer handle, leaves job->cmd_bo NULL, and schedules code that dereferences it. Exploitation requires access to the accel node and a probed AMD NPU; one crafted ioctl causes a kernel oops, and panic-on-oops systems then panic.
