CVE-2026-72086

LUN stoppage via leaked command tags

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Resource leak in the Linux kernel allows guest OS users to stop a Xen pvSCSI LUN by exhausting its session command tags. In scsiback_device_action(), the target_submit_tmr() failure branch sends an error response without returning the tag obtained by scsiback_get_pend_req(). A guest OS user must issue pvSCSI abort or reset requests while task-management submission fails; repeated leaks exhaust the LUN session's tags and stop the LUN.
