CVE-2026-72084Network attack vector

Host crash via unbounded iSCSI TransportID parsing

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

An out-of-bounds read in the Linux SCSI target subsystem allows remote attackers to crash a host through a malformed iSCSI PR OUT request. iscsi_parse_pr_out_transport_id() performs an unbounded separator search on an unterminated TransportID without receiving the buffer length, allowing the scan to reach a vmalloc guard page. Reachability requires a device exported through an iSCSI TPG, including vhost-scsi guest access, and the resulting kernel oops interrupts service.
