Service interruption via unsynchronized timer teardown
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux libertas_tf Wi-Fi driver allows local users to interrupt service during device removal after a command timeout. lbtf_free_adapter() deletes command_timer without waiting for command_timer_fn() to finish, allowing the callback to dereference priv after ieee80211_free_hw() frees it. Reachability requires the affected driver, an outstanding firmware command that times out, and concurrent device removal; the published impact is limited to availability.
