Local privilege escalation via unbounded hotplug state output

Buffer overflow in Linux kernel CPU hotplug allows local users to overwrite kernel memory by reading registered states through sysfs. The states_show() function appends every registered hotplug state name to one PAGE_SIZE sysfs buffer with unbounded sprintf() calls. Exploitation requires local low-privilege access and enough registered states; the resulting overwrite can crash the system or elevate privileges.
