CVE-2026-72063

Local system hang via atomic-context sleep

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Concurrency flaw in the Linux kernel Tegra GPIO driver allows local users to hang systems through shared GPIO direction changes. The tegra_gpio_direction_input() and tegra_gpio_direction_output() callbacks redundantly enter pinctrl and take pctldev->mutex while a per-line spinlock is held, causing sleep in an atomic context. Reachability requires a shared GPIO user on Tegra hardware with local low-privileged access; the documented consequence is a system hang or unresponsiveness.
