Filesystem write interruption via unsupported device slumber
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
Availability failure in Linux before 7.1.5 allows local users to cause a read-only filesystem on systems using a PNY CS900 1TB SSD. The ATA core applies med_power_with_dipm without a drive-specific NOLPM quirk, so Device-Initiated Slumber drops the link without recovery. Reachability requires the specified SSD and power policy; the bounded consequence is loss of write availability on its filesystem.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
