Bootloader memory corruption via oversized Android image read
Published Sep 29, 2026 · Updated Sep 29, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in U-Boot before 2026.10-rc3 allows physically proximate attackers to corrupt bootloader memory via crafted Android boot media. In read_slotted_partition(), a header-derived image size sets the block-read length without a check against the partition size, so the read writes beyond the load buffer. Exploitation requires attacker-supplied boot media and a device where Android Verified Boot does not gate the read, such as an unlocked device.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
