Code execution via unsanitized git config
Published Sep 3, 2026 · Updated Sep 3, 2026
OS command injection in Nous Research Hermes Agent 0.18.2 through 0.21.0 allows attackers to execute commands from a malicious repository. Automatic git status probes in agent/coding_context.py::_git and tui_gateway.git_probe pass .git/config through unchanged, so an index refresh invokes its core.fsmonitor command. A user must open a repository delivered with its .git directory intact and send a message; execution occurs as that user and can expose provider API keys.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
