Remote service crash via attacker-controlled format string
Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026
Format string injection in GPAC allows remote attackers to crash the routein filter through crafted ATSC 3.0 ROUTE packets. In gf_route_media_complete_object, the fileTemplate-derived toi_template is passed directly to sprintf, so an injected %n directive performs an invalid memory write. The routein filter must be listening for unauthenticated ALC/LCT UDP traffic; successful exploitation terminates the GPAC process, interrupting its media-routing service.
