CVE-2026-71539Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via Git clone symlink race

Published Aug 18, 2026 · Updated Aug 19, 2026

Remote code execution in n8n before 1.123.64, 2.29.8, and 2.30.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via the Git node clone operation. The Git node validates a destination directory and then clones into it, but an attacker can swap the checked directory for a symlink before the clone runs and redirect the repository into the community node directory. Reachability requires an authenticated workflow user who can create and run workflows with the Git node, and execution occurs when n8n later loads the planted repository as a custom node during restart.
