Read-only bypass via unsplit direct-user privileges
Published Oct 15, 2026 · Updated Oct 15, 2026
OPNsense Core before 26.1.11 allows remote authenticated users to bypass MVC read-only restrictions and write component configuration. ACL::hasPrivilege() retains comma-separated direct privileges as one string, so its exact comparison misses user-config-readonly and throwReadOnly() permits writes. The 26.4 branch through 26.4.1 is also affected; exploitation requires a component write privilege and user-config-readonly stored together in one direct privilege value, with changes limited to the assigned component.
