CVE-2026-7149Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary directory creation via unsanitized competition identifier

Published Apr 27, 2026 · Updated Apr 27, 2026

Path traversal in prepare_kaggle_dataset in dexhunter kaggle-mcp 0.1.0 allows remote attackers to create directories outside its cache. The function appends competition_id directly to src/kaggle_mcp/data and calls os.makedirs without slug validation, canonicalization, or a root-boundary check. Exploitation requires access to invoke the MCP tool and filesystem write permission for the server process; directory creation occurs before any Kaggle download succeeds.
