Stored XSS via control-byte-obfuscated URL schemes
Published Aug 6, 2026 · Updated Aug 6, 2026
Cross-site scripting in CommonMark 1.5.0 through 2.8.3 allows remote attackers to execute script through crafted Markdown links. AttributesHelper::filterAttributes passes href values whose javascript scheme contains tabs, newlines, or leading C0 controls because its anchored denylist tests the unnormalized string. Exploitation requires an application to enable AttributesExtension, render attacker-controlled Markdown, and present the resulting link to a victim who clicks it.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
