CVE-2026-71402Hinoki check available

Adjacent-network heap exposure via IP length confusion

Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in the wicked DHCPv4 client 0.6.80 and earlier allows remote attackers to parse adjacent heap data via crafted DHCP packets. ni_capture_inspect_udp_header() passes the IP total length as the UDP payload length, causing the option walker to read beyond the 1500-byte receive buffer. The attacker must share the network; the over-read is limited to 68 bytes, with no demonstrated memory write, control of adjacent bytes, or remote exfiltration.
