Authenticated database writes via unrestricted PHP deserialization
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
PHP object injection in Cotonti's Comments plugin allows remote authenticated users to write attacker-chosen rows to the cache table. CreateAction.php decodes the ci POST parameter and passes it to unserialize() without allowed_classes; EditAction.php repeats the operation for cb. Member write access to comments, enabled by default, reaches the create sink; editing a member's own comment reaches the edit sink, while code execution depends on loaded gadget chains.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
