Code execution via unsafe pickle cache loading
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Unsafe deserialization in Hugging Face PEFT 0.19.1 and earlier allows attackers to execute code by supplying a malicious cache file. LoRA-GA and CorDA initialization pass configuration-selected cache and covariance files to torch.load without weights_only=True, enabling pickle payload execution. Exploitation requires a PEFT process to use LoRA-GA or CorDA and load an attacker-controlled cache or covariance file.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
