Code execution via unsanitized external extension path
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Path traversal in Koenkk Zigbee2MQTT 2.12.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code through MQTT requests. ExternalJSExtension.getFilePath joins an unvalidated name to the extension directory, writes the resulting path, and dynamically imports it. Exploitation requires MQTT broker access and enable_external_js; the same path construction also permits deletion of process-accessible files.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
