CVE-2026-71261

Heap overflow via truncated W64 CUE capacity

Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Heap buffer overflow in dr_wav.h in miniaudio dr_libs allows attackers to corrupt memory by opening a crafted W64 WAV file. The drwav__metadata_process_chunk() capacity estimate truncates a 64-bit W64 chunk size before division, while drwav__read_cue_to_metadata_obj() trusts the full cue-point count and writes beyond the undersized metadata allocation when assertions are disabled. Exploitation requires a 32-bit application to parse attacker-supplied W64 metadata, typically after a user opens the file.
