CVE-2026-71226Hinoki check available

Memory corruption via undrained AIO completions

Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Use-after-free in Red Hat libkcapi's one-shot AIO path allows local users to corrupt application memory through an error return. The path returns before every submitted I/O control block is drained, so delayed kernel completions write into caller-owned output buffers after the application frees or reuses them. Reachability requires an application to opt into KCAPI_INIT_AIO, encounter an error after submission, and release or recycle the buffer before completion; default configurations are unaffected.
