Out-of-bounds write in savemeta in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, 8, and 9 allows attackers to execute code via a crafted GFS2 image. The utility trusts an inode metadata height value as a loop bound and writes beyond a stack buffer without validating that value. Exploitation requires savemeta to process an attacker-crafted or compromised GFS2 filesystem image, exposing the invoking process to code execution.
