CVE-2026-71220Hinoki check available

Arbitrary code execution via unchecked di_height array index

Published Sep 3, 2026 · Updated Sep 3, 2026

Stack out-of-bounds write in gfs2_edit in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, 8, and 9 allows attackers to execute code via crafted GFS2 images. The utility uses the di_height field from untrusted on-disk inode metadata as a stack-array index without checking its bounds. Execution requires a user to process a malicious GFS2 filesystem image with gfs2_edit; the overflow can corrupt the process stack and permit arbitrary code execution.
