Code execution via missing review approval context
Published Oct 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026
Approval bypass in Gitea Actions allows remote authenticated users to execute fork workflow code on base runners via review events. The PullRequestReview notifier omits WithPullRequest, so the approval gate fails to recognize fork-originated runs while loading workflow definitions from the fork head. Attackers need permission to fork, open a pull request, and submit a review with a line comment; execution requires fork workflows and is bounded by runner isolation and event-specific secret access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=1.20.0 <=1.27.1

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
Activity data is delayed. The latest report is Sep 28, 2026.
