Unauthenticated command execution via disabled HMAC validation
Published Apr 27, 2026 · Updated Apr 27, 2026
Missing authentication in Hermes Agent 0.8.0 webhooks allows remote attackers to execute commands through an unsigned POST request. gateway/platforms/webhook.py skips HMAC validation when a route secret equals INSECURE_NO_AUTH and passes the request body to the agent as a prompt. Exploitation requires a reachable webhook route configured with that secret; commands run with the agent process's tool permissions.
