Subscriber-level role escalation via unchecked profile update
Published Apr 27, 2026 · Updated Apr 27, 2026
Privilege escalation in Highland Software Custom Role Manager 1.0.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to modify user roles. The hscrm_save_user_roles() callback handles personal_options_update profile submissions without a sufficient server-side capability check. Subscriber-level access reaches the profile update path, allowing an account to alter its assigned privileges without administrator authorization.
